The map excellently presents the topography of all the islands, with bright colouring and vivid relief shading, accompanied by spot heights and names of many peaks, valleys and other geographic features. The map indicates locations with tourist accommodation and prominently shows various places of interest. Special highlighting marks sites associated with Napoleon's exile on St. Helena and the map also shows the boundary of the territory assigned to the deposed emperor. The remaining islands: Tristan da Cunha, Ascension Island, Gough Island and Inaccessible Island are all presented as separate insets at 1:75,000, with similar cartography and additional information. All the maps have latitude and longitude lines: St Helena at 1' intervals, the other islands at 2'. There is no index. Map legend in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Buckminster Fuller Dymaxion Map. ODT. This Raleigh Edition of the Dymaxion (TM) map, first designed in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a vivid color reproduction of the original rendition created by R. Buckminster Fuller in 1954 in his office there. We have reproduced the map exactly as it was first conceived and produced by its creator. Both the land masses and the grayscale shading in the oceans represent mean low annual temperatures. The visionary Fuller designed this map to help us recognize that ''we're all astronauts aboard a little spaceship called Earth.'' Because it can be reconfigured into a variety of patterns, it also communicated the point that "there are many ways to see the world." Size is 23 x 34", available either folded or flat/laminated.
Note: The paper is a coated glossy paper and it when the folded maps are unfolded, the fold creases are quite visible. We suggest laminated flat map as the better choice.
