These maps use a detailed topographic map as a base map (reduced from the 1:100,000 series?) and add tourist sites such as castles, churches, and hiking information such as trails, huts, remote restaurants, etc. The maps have contours at 100-metre intervals enhanced by relief shading and an overprint highlighting footpaths, campsites, youth hostels, mountain huts, etc. Roads with bus lines are highlighted, indicating which routes can be reached by public transport. Swiss Navigator Cities Street Atlas. Hallwag. This weighty volume provides over 2800 street plans, from cities to selected villages, each individually indexed for streets.
An overview atlas section of over 100 pages shows the whole country at 1:100,000 and indicates the places for which a street plan is provided and their respective locations in the following street atlas section. These locations can also be looked-up by referring to a main index.
On the street maps, colours help distinguish parks, urban areas, industrial areas etc. Railways are included and a range of symbols denote useful features such as car parks, hotels, information offices, petrol stations, shopping centres and hospitals.
A 1km Swiss Coordinate System grid is printed over each plan. Street plan scales vary between 1:17,500 and 1:20,000, with city center enlargements at 1:8,000. All text including the map legend is in French, German and Italian only. Softcover, 704 pp, 21 x 30 cm.
