Utah's Green River Cicadas. Bennett-Watt, vol. 56. The Green River is 25 miles of tailwater fishery that flows out of Flaming Gorge Reservoir. It is famous for its huge population of trout in the A section, over 12,000 per mile . The trout on the Green, rainbows, browns, cut throats and cutt bows have this very endearing quality of eating big flies. A habit that starts in mid June and continues through September. The bug that's mainly responsible for getting the trout turned on to big targets is the annual cicada hatch. These are big tree hopper terrestrials that occasionally fall into the water as they mature and mate. Trout Creek Flies are the folks with whom to fish the Green. Denny Breer and his wife Grace have been running trips on the Green for over ten years and his staff of guides are the very best. Exciting fishing on the Green River in late June, on big dry flies. It just doesn't get a whole lot better than that.

Utah's Green River Trout. Bennett-Watt, vol. 19. The Green river is reputed to be one of the best trout streams in the world with indisputably the largest trout population per mile... 20,000! If you put them end to end they would stretch easily the entire 7 mile length of "Section A". Dennis Breer... Trout Creek Outfitters has been fishing the Green for the last 10 years and knows the Green like the back of his hand. Learn all of 25 miles of river... Not just the very popular "Section A"... From the REAL experts... The guides who fish it every day. During October we fished successfully everything from size 22 midge larvae, size 14 and size 10 royal wulffs, to large woolly buggers on sink tip lines.
